Yes but for accuracy, it is recommended to install the BBQ Guard on the tank at least one hour before burning propane. If the new tank level is higher than the previous tank level, the BBQ Guard will only update the displayed level after the barbecue has burned propane twice with a period of at least 3 hours between burnings to allow enough time for the tank temperature to stabilize once the barbecue is turned off the first time.
